Let's colour this rare map together! This intricate 15-year old map is full of details of Ubin kampungs, places, people. Some of which are already lost. Also, the amazing mangroves, forests and wildlife that abound on the island and in the waters around it.

Phillip Lin and Uncle Ah Kok warmly welcome everyone to their traditional house (aka Living Fisher Village), where you will be rewarded with untold stories of struggle, traditional culture and the original way of kampung life.

  • Cooking Demonstration: Making traditional kueh ("cake") using charcoal stove
  • Intro to Kayaking: 1-hour trial session for visitors who have never tried kayaking before. Learn techniques on how to paddle with a guide.
  • Exhibition and tour about mangroves with the Restore Ubin Mangroves (R.U.M.) Initiative.

20-22 May: Helping Hands for our Forest at Pulau Ubin with NParks

Join NParks to contribute to Pulau Ubin’s habitat enhancement efforts through a reforestation activity held during this year’s Biodiversity Week.
Enhancing such wildlife habitats provide homes for our native fauna such as the White-rumped Shama and Greater Mousedeer.

Take this chance to discover and cherish the diversity of nature.

Want to learn how to be a nature guide? It's easy. No prior experience is needed. Just bring your passion!
Come join the Chek Jawa Familiarisation Tour with the Naked Hermit Crabs! After you have completed the Familiarisation Tour on 21 May, you will be able to participate as a volunteer at the Balik Chek Jawa Day on 3 June. Come join us and make a difference for nature!

Anyone can do their part for the environment. Come join in the fun and get your creative juices flowing. Hazel Huang shows you how to turn an unwanted coconut husk into your own beautiful piece of art by painting your vision of a greener environment! (The coconuts come from the drinks stalls at Ubin.)


4 Jun (Sun): Ubin’s Straw-headed Bulbul Census with the Nature Society (Singapore)

The Straw-headed Bulbul is globally endangered. But here in Singapore, the wild population has been growing steadily. This is based on data gathered by the Bird Group through regular bird counts over the years. Pulau Ubin is a haven for this bulbul, given its largely rural setting and extensive green spaces.

This is the Nature Society (Singapore)'s first dedicated census on the Straw-headed Bulbul. Join them in gathering data that may contribute towards the conservation of this species. Some birdwatching experience is required.


11 Jun (Sun): Pulau Ubin’s Commonest Bird Quest with the Nature Society (Singapore)

Join the Nature Society (Singapore) in this fun activity for Pulau Ubin enthusiasts to find out more about the island’s common but fascinating birds.
Oriental pied-hornbill (Anthracoceros albirostris)
Teams of two or four members will go about listing common bird species seen or heard within a fixed period. Novices can be assigned to experienced teams. Be prepared for a fair amount of walking. A great opportunity to learn about birds and Pulau Ubin from the experts!


24 Jun (Sat): U-Bin-It with Singapore Environment Council

The less we see, the less will follow. Volunteer with us as we spruce up and keep trash off Pulau Ubin’s Sensory Trail!
Do bring along a pair of gloves and used plastic bags too!


2 Jul (Sun): Forest Clean-up with the Nature Society (Singapore)

Pulau Ubin is an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) with various healthy habitats rich in animals and plants. Make a difference by helping to clean up its forest while learning about a variety of conservation issues and how you can become a better steward of nature.

16 Jul (Sun): FREE Coastal Cleanup at Jelutong Beach with Sea Shepherd and Singapore Environment Council

Get hands-on experience and help keep our shores clean.
You will learn how trash is affecting marine life, as well as how Singapore manages its trash. You will also have fun as we will be on the look out for interesting and weird finds amongst the trash!
