Monthly: FREE Rustic Reflections Tour with NParks

Starting at the Assembly Area before proceeding to the former Bin Kiang School site. You will then head over to the Sensory Trail pond to learn about the habitat restoration efforts before making stops at Pulau Ubin’s former headman’s house and Kampung Melayu.

Tour participants will also visit a rubber plantation that once supplied Singapore, and possibly the region, with latex, and learn more about the different plants that played a major role in shaping this country’s culinary delights at the Ubin Fruit Orchard before ending the tour at Teck Seng’s Place – a restored Chinese kampung house.


Monthly: FREE Kampong Tour with NParks

Take a walk with us to experience Ubin's wonderful natural and cultural heritage. The 2.2km trail takes about 2 hours to complete. The tour will start at the Ubin-HSBC Volunteer Hub and take you through the spice trees around Jelutong campsite, Butterfly Hill, Pekan Quarry, Sensory Trail Ponds, Kampong House, Old Bin Kiang School site, Toa Pek Kong Temple and end at the Wayang Stage.

You will hear about the use of spices in cooking and the interesting history of the different sites. Do you know what the Ubin-HSBC Volunteer Hub was in the 1970s? When was the Toa Pek Kong Temple built? If you would like to know, then this is an excellent introduction to the heritage of the island.


May-Jul: Chek Jawa Intertidal guided tour

During suitable low tides, join the NParks volunteers for an intertidal tour to discover and learn about Chek Jawa's six ecosystems and the diverse array of animals that inhabits these unique habitats.

Journey through the Chek Jawa Visitor Centre, 1.1km long boardwalk, Jejawi viewing tower and sandbar with experienced guides.

Open to all ages, children under the age of 13 to be under parental/guardian guidance.


10 May (Wed): Shoot Beautiful Pictures with NParks

Join NParks for this free four-hour mobile phone photography workshop where you will learn how to optimise your smartphone’s camera to create better images.

Learn the basics to control your camera and gain tips and essential knowledge to capture better images. You will also be introduced to simple mobile phone editing apps to create great pictures, perfect for Facebook, Instagram or any other social media accounts you have!

There will be a special photowalk around Pulau Ubin to capture the unique village life of its residents as well as the flora and fauna around the village. Instructors will be on hand to offer valuable guidance too.


20 May (Sat): Ubin Night Walk with Strix Wildlife Consultancy

Join this very special Ubin night walk under the umbrella of Strix Wildlife Consultancy led by Subaraj Rajathurai, the foremost nature guide in Singapore. This walk is supported by the Herpetological Society of Singapore.

Want to learn how to be a nature guide? It's easy. No prior experience is needed. Just bring your passion!
Come join the Chek Jawa Familiarisation Tour with the Naked Hermit Crabs! After you have completed the Familiarisation Tour on 21 May, you will be able to participate as a volunteer at the Balik Chek Jawa Day on 3 June. Come join us and make a difference for nature!


26 May (Fri): Ubin Night Walk with Strix Wildlife Consultancy

3 Jun (Sat): Balik Chek Jawa with the Chek Jawa community

FREE, no registration required, just come to Chek Jawa! Volunteer guides will be stationed all over the boardwalk to share about Chek Jawa's amazing wildlife. From monkeys to wild boar, birds to butterflies, crabs to mudskippers, and fascinating plants of the mangroves and shores, some of which are rare elsewhere. If we are lucky we may encounter otters or even a dugong.

3 Jun (Sat): Night walk with Better Trails

Learn how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. As you explore Pulau Ubin's Sensory Trail to Malay Kampung and back to Ubin Town, learn about the recreational impacts on Pulau Ubin.

There will be stops to learn more about how the principles of 'Leave No Trace' can help to make better decisions and preparation to enjoy outdoor responsibly.


3 Jun (Sat): UBiNavigate by Outward Bound Singapore

Join the UBiNavigate Heritage Trail to explore less well-known parts of western Pulau Ubin and venture into parts of Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) campus.
Learn about the island's rich history in the process. Ubin is Singapore's last rustic island, where rubber plantations, granite mining and villages once thrived and an abundance of biodiversity still remains.

UBiNavigate hopes to create and sustain cultural historical awareness of Pulau Ubin through the younger generation. OBS is also celebrating its 50th anniversary in developing ruggedness and resilience in our youths through its programmes.

This workshop is ideal for those starting out on macro photography, and for those who have field experience but have never tried macro photography at night. This is the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded photographers and learn from highly experienced photographers in night macro photography.

4 Jun (Sun): Ubin’s Straw-headed Bulbul Census with the Nature Society (Singapore)

The Straw-headed Bulbul is globally endangered. But here in Singapore, the wild population has been growing steadily. This is based on data gathered by the Bird Group through regular bird counts over the years. Pulau Ubin is a haven for this bulbul, given its largely rural setting and extensive green spaces.

This is the Nature Society (Singapore)'s first dedicated census on the Straw-headed Bulbul. Join them in gathering data that may contribute towards the conservation of this species. Some birdwatching experience is required.

11 Jun (Sun): FREE Art in the Park @ Pulau Ubin with Nature Society (Singapore)

Join artist Alpana Ahuja for a fun and casual site drawing and painting session at Pulau Ubin.
Meet fellow nature art lovers to observe and capture Ubin's landscape and biodiversity in a variety of mediums, from paint to ink and pencil. No drawing or painting experience is necessary.


11 Jun (Sun): Pulau Ubin’s Commonest Bird Quest with the Nature Society (Singapore)

Join the Nature Society (Singapore) in this fun activity for Pulau Ubin enthusiasts to find out more about the island’s common but fascinating birds.

Teams of two or four members will go about listing common bird species seen or heard within a fixed period. Novices can be assigned to experienced teams. Be prepared for a fair amount of walking. A great opportunity to learn about birds and Pulau Ubin from the experts!


16 Jun (Fri): Nature Art with Kids by Alpana Ahuja with NParks

Join Ms Alpana Ahuja, an avid nature lover and volunteer with Acres and the Nature Society Singapore, on a walk at the Sensory Trail.
Along the way, she will also guide participants to use watercolours to paint the flowers you see. Parents are welcomed to accompany their children for this activity.


16 Jun (Fri): Chek Jawa Nature Photographic Outing with the Nature Photographic Society, Singapore

Located at the northeast coast of Pulau Ubin, Chek Jawa is no doubt one of the best intertidal sites in Singapore for nature appreciation and biodiversity conservation. With its special location and interesting background, Sunrise at Chek Jawa will also be an unusual experience for most nature photographers in Singapore. To support the ongoing Pesta Ubin event, Nature Photographic Society (Singapore) will be organizing a nature photographic outing to Chek Jawa over this weekend.
Photographers, take up the challenge and enjoy the fun with NPSS to stay overnight at Pulau Ubin and grab this rare opportunity to capture the unique Chek Jawa scenery!

Due to the sensitive of the habitats, the outing is limited to 12 participants.
